Brain Dump
Get the swirl out of your head and somewhere safe — so working memory can let go of it.
Nothing parked yet. Empty your head — one thought per line.
What is a brain dump and how do I do one?
A brain dump is the simple act of getting every loose thought out of your head and into one external place, so your brain no longer has to hold them. For ADHD, this matters more than it sounds: working memory is limited and leaky, and an unparked thought keeps demanding attention until it is captured — which is exactly the noise that makes starting anything feel impossible. This tool is built for one job: capture with zero friction. Type or paste whatever is rattling around, one line at a time, and each item is parked the instant you hit enter. There is no setup, no folders to choose, no account. When the swirl is out, a light, rule-based sort groups likely tasks, ideas and worries so the list feels less like chaos. Everything stays in your browser, on your device — we store nothing.
How to do a brain dump
- 1
Set a two-minute timer in your head
You are not organising yet — just emptying. Lower the bar all the way.
- 2
Type one thought per line
Whatever surfaces: tasks, worries, half-ideas. Hit enter and it is parked. Keep going until the head feels quieter.
- 3
Let it sort itself
A light rule-based pass groups likely tasks, ideas and worries so the list reads as structure, not chaos.
- 4
Pick one — or just close it
Copy or export the list, send one item to Task Breakdown, or simply walk away calmer. Both are wins.
In ADHD OS, the brain dump never sleeps
- Global capture from anywhere — a hotkey, your phone, or your voice — not just this page.
- AI sorts and routes each item to the right tool, and turns the actionable ones into started tasks.
- Your captures sync across devices and feed the rest of your system.
This free tool keeps working, forever. The product just adds more.
Questions people ask
What is a brain dump and how do I do one?
A brain dump is getting every thought out of your head into one place so you no longer have to hold them. Do one by typing whatever surfaces, one line at a time, with no filtering — capture first, organise later (or not at all).
Do you store what I dump?
No. Your dump lives only in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to or stored on a server. If you choose to email it to yourself, that send is fire-and-forget and is not retained.
Why does a brain dump help ADHD specifically?
ADHD working memory is limited and leaky, so unparked thoughts keep interrupting to avoid being forgotten. Externalising them stops that loop, which lowers the background noise that makes starting hard.
Is there a wrong way to do it?
No. Messy, misspelled and out of order is the point. The only goal is to get it out of your head.
